Project at a glance

How to switch to GDPR compliant data management in the cloud had dominated many of the C-level conversations at Intergroup Partners. The consulting firm wanted to find a solution that would reassure clients that their documents were managed according to the requirements of the GDPR and avoid employee mistakes that could result in accidental data breaches - explained Montserrat Corominas, CEO of Intergroup Partners.

She was very well aware of the importance of GDPR compliance but wanted to find a user-friendly solution. In the past, Intergroup Partners used different systems for documents depending on their sensitivity. Some were not encrypted, others were encrypted with a software which was difficult to use, and the most sensitive ones were only available to a restricted number of employees through a specific system. This was a pretty complicated way of handling documents. So Montserrat decided to look for a convenient yet compliant way to manage documents in the cloud.

The challenge

"What you want as a CEO is driving projects across countries with confidential data is to have it easy. Security and safety is something that all of us want to have but no one wants to feel. This played a very important role when we decided to switch to Tresorit."

The solution

Changing to Tresorit has brought significant advantages to Intergroup Partners. Tresorit is easy to use with many control and security features which enable smooth document management and access controls. Also, the end-to-end encryption provided by Tresorit is something Intergroup Partners did not have in the past. "Applying Tresorit has been essential for us as it is easy and we feel comfortable to say now that our customers’ data are safe" stressed Montserrat.

One of the main reason why Intergroup Partners decided to go with Tresorit was that it facilitates GDPR compliance and can help avoid potential hefty fines under the new law.

"As Tresorit encrypts everything on the users’ device, only unintelligible data can leak if Tresorit’s servers are hacked. These are not considered personal data. Therefore, the notification requirement of the GDPR does not apply and fines can also be avoided."

She added that Tresorit can also help eliminate human errors that could lead to accidental data breaches as it has various control features.

The result

"All this helps us to safely collaborate with our clients and reassure them that their data are handled in a compliant way. Ultimately, we wanted it nice and easy, we wanted to be compliant, we wanted to have a good understanding of who can access what data. Tresorit simplified a lot our internal processes and the communication towards our customers. There is no excuse for anybody not to use it."
